MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT ACNE!
Very often, a lot of us have used the word Pimple interchangeable in place of acne. If all that we called pimple was actually pimple then it wouldn't have been a global concern.
Acne is one of the right prevalent disease in the world today.
Very often what we call pimple is simply acne: if you've been frequently experiencing breakouts of clusters of pimples then you are probably having Acne. Acne is a health condition that affects teenagers, adults, the male and also the female gender. This issue has left many individuals concerned and it has left many of us to search for quick relief from it. It has led people to making incorrect assumptions about acne, and it's affecting their opinion of patients with this condition. Yes, I too still have breakouts but it was not very frequent compared to the teenage phase of my life.
Due to the concerns that millions of individuals around the world have about this skin disease, it then birthed kits of misconceptions and that's why I we'll be talking about it in this post today. I'm so concerned that I need to reveal some of these misconceptions I've found to you so that none of us will be caged in the prison of fear and wrong ideology. However before I head on to revealing these MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT ACNE, I'll quickly share the differences between PIMPLE AND ACNE
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PIMPLE AND ACNE:
-PIMPLES are usually singular infected bumps.
-ACNE are clusters pimples.
-PIMPLE is the Whitehead or blackhead seen on the skin.
-ACNE is the presence of several pus-filled breakouts spread across the skin.
-PIMPLE is a symptom of acne
-ACNE is a disease.
NOW, LET'S SEE THESE MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT ACNE:
MISCONCEPTION 1: POPPING PIMPLES HEALS ACNE
When we pop a pimple, it delays the body’s natural healing process and finally it will live us with blemishes that last forever. The forced trauma to that area of the skin not only pushes out pus (i.e the white or yellow liquid bacteria) but it pushes out blood where the skin or pimple is infected.
The moment you pop pimples and aren’t able to, you may push the pus or other contents of your pimple further underneath your skin layer. This will clog your skin pores even more, may trigger inflammation under your skin and make the acne more noticeable.
MISCONCEPTION 2: PEOPLE WHO SWEAT TOO MUCH ON THEIR BODY ARE VERY MORE LIKELY TO GET ACNE MORE FREQUENTLY.
The Real Truth: No bad blood causes pimple(ACNE). It's obvious that some people do have blood-filled pimples and this happens as a result of the regular picking on the pimple, on their skin. Particularly, most types of acne occur because of a bacteria called PROPIONIBACTERIUM ACNES and can also be because of hormonal imbalance in teenagers and some ladies, It has nothing to do with whether your blood is pure or impure.
MISCONCEPTION 4: ONLY TEENAGERS SUFFER FROM ACNES
Lots of people, most especially female and male adults, are surprised to discover they continue to have acne breakouts while in their thirties or beyond. Well, it's not something you should panic about, you don’t have to face your acne alone, let a dermatologist help you out effectively.
MISCONCEPTION 6: USING TOOTHPASTE, LEMON JUICE AND GARLIC CAN DRY PIMPLES
For lemon juice and garlic, although they have antibacterial properties but it has been found that both can cause irritation and rash, thereby developing an oozing, agonizing injury that will leave behind a mark after healing.
People with more delicate skin, may have their skin worsen because of the contents in garlic, lemon juice and toothpaste. It would be better to use medicine designed to treat pimples rather than trying out stuff that will end up leaving your skin in mess.
BECAREFUL AND STAY AWAY FROM LOTS OF DIY CONTENTS. MOST OF THEM AREN'T SAFE FOR YOUR HEALTH AT ALL.
No one loves to have acne forever but while you are still on your prescribed treatment here are a few tips that will aid the healing process:
-AVOID IRRITANTS
-SHOWER AFTER STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES
-AVOID TOUCHING OR PICKING ACNE-PRONE AREAS.
-AVOID FRICTION OR PRESSURE ON YOUR SKIN
YOU WILL DEFINITELY GET OVER ACNE!
I Suffered this a lot during my adolescent stage. Immediately I turned 20, I was like I will be free but even now, I still have little episodes. I totally agree with the fact that its not just for Teens. Much Love from Anambra
